There’s so much to love about this time of year, the food, the gift giving, the decorations, the cookies, the parties, the vacation time, the holiday spirit…
But I think the thing I love the most is the lights. All the little, twinkling lights shining everywhere on these long dark nights, even inside.
Especially inside.
Because when you have a tree all lit up in the dark…
… the rest of the house fades away and you can pretend the mess– What mess?
I don’t see a mess!
‘Tis the season of twinkle lights and dark corners, make the most of it!!!
Long ago I used to write posts with more than a hundred words. (I know!? Who knew?!) But I felt the same way about Christmas time. Here is a six year old post about ignoring The Rest of Life to enjoy the season.
That’s the best way to deal with housework this time of year 🙂
A rousing holiday cheers to that! 🙂
Reblogged this on Anita Dawes & Jaye Marie.
I love Christmas lights too! They’re so endlessly pretty eeeeep. I used to hang some on my bookshelf but I had them sitting on my floor waiting to go up and my dog decided it’d be fun to chew them. So. No lights this year.😂
Silly pooch! I have them in my office room too… where there happens to be books on a shelf and I’m trying to decide if I can justify leaving them up forever. But then I suppose they wouldn’t be so fun and cheerful next winter. (Or summer… if you are you I guess… but it’s winter and dark here… and this makes my head hurt thinking about it!)
Fairy lights are one of my favourite things about this season – they really brighten up the dark nights. I love to look at the lights other people have put up outside – and yes, indoor lights are a great distraction from Christmas chaos all over the house!
They do really brighten the dark and even the cloudy days can use a little twinkle this time of year!
There’s nothing like the lights on a Christmas tree. 😀
Agreed! And will anyone be surprised to hear I leave mine up until the needles all start showering down? Probably not. It’s a good think I prefer real trees if I had a fake one I might leave it up forever! 😀
We take ours down on New Years Day … but I do understand the sentiment … we do like our bling! 😀
