Today’s weather was icky.
I have no better word for it. With the 60mph winds, sporadic rain, and overcast sky, it was just icky out. As I watched objects fly across the yard, including shingles (though so far none from the house), I was thinking that this was not the kind of fall weather I love. Then as the nasty weather kept us indoors and I tackled a mountain of dirty laundry I was thinking that this was not the kind of activity I love.
Today was a day that needed a bit of fun, something warm and fuzzy to brighten a nasty day.
Luckily for us the call came this afternoon that our warm and fuzzy day brighteners were just a post office away!

Hi! Nice chicks! I can just imagine siting in the warm and cozy brooder house with softy peeping, scurrying chicks and listening to the wind howl outside. Now that’s warm and fuzzy!
On a technical note..I can’t see the pictures until I slect “leave a reply” – then they come up. Pretty sneaky way to get comments!

Well it was warm and cozy but the wind is trying it’s best to lift the roof off or perhaps the whole building. Ivy said “MOM, It’s kinda RUMBLY in here!”
I am assuming these are laying birds? Fall chicks sound like a lot of fun! Ever since getting rid of 13 hens. My coop seems empty with the 20 that are left. I am dreaming of fuzzy chicks after winter. These photos make me want them now! Do I dare show Robbie and Charlie your photos? They think you can only get chicks in the spring time.

Yup laying birds. There a good and bad things about the fall chicks, it’s nice to have them now then we aren’t finagling space for these guys and the broilers and its a bit less busy now than in the spring. But last time we did it I felt like we spent very little time with the young birds and they were a little wilder than I like them to be. Now that Ivy is older maybe that won’t be a problem since she’ll have the ambition to go out through the snow to play with them!
