News From the Computer-less

I’m still here… sort of.

Our home computer is still non functional.

Unfortunately this has more to do with the fact that I’m a stubborn do-it-yourself-er (even when it comes to things completely out of my league like a computer) than anything else and so with one thing and another, the computer is making progress but still not usable.

What I have learned is that I can actually survive without my computer and the internet. In the first few days of computer-less panic I wasn’t sure it was possible:

How do I get a hold of ____ without e-mail?   – The phone.

How do I know what the weather is going to do? – Walk outside.

What about the news? – News shmews if it’s really spectacular someone always mentions it.

Online banking? – Send it to work with John.

I ended up with only one main problem.

What about my blog?  – ???

Since there is no good option for blog writing away from home when you have two children and your local library often closes at five I’ll keep plugging away on fixing the computer. I’ve a backlog  of pictures, stories and books to share and who knows one of these days I may even break down and pay someone qualified to fix my problem!

I vote for paying someone to fix it! Spend your valuable time doing fun things!

I have been missing your blog and our emails terribly bad lately! And yesterday I finally had the idea that I should just call you and started wondering if I even have your phone number. I could get it from someone in the family! So you may just get a call from me one of these days. Except I hate talking on the phone!

I need the computer for the weather it helps determine my laundry days. I hate using the dryer!

I agree with you on the news! The news that is important to me is what is going on in my world.

    I am missing you!

I had forgotten that your computer crashed, and was thinking that summer was so much fun that you had no time to make blog entries. I, too, miss seeing your pictures and reading your observations.

Eric might be able to help you, via phone..just a thought.

Well……I know you really want my opinion, so here it is!!

Get yourself a netbook, or ipad or small computer. You can still work on fixing your computer, but you will have a ‘spare’, it’s kind of small so you won’t want to be on it all the time, just a thought 🙂
PS– have u called Tom? He really likes home cooked meals, plus his car is fixed now.
