I’m not saying that I read this book, had a huge epiphany and now my kids eat everything.
Not- even- close.
Recently, the current six year old has chewed her food, spit it back out and then told me she couldn’t possibly eat any more because she didn’t like the parts she had already chewed on…
But, I will say that my kids are eating slightly more of everything – and that’s not bad.
Would I recommend it? It’s a parenting book, I don’t recommend them on principle. My kids are not your kids, my style is not yours.
That said, I am glad I read it. While there were things about the book a didn’t like, I have attempted to be mindful of her “10 simple rules” and my kids did eat “yummy chard pie” for dinner tonight. Something that I doubt was coincidence!
Does this mean that I have to teach my toddler to speak French and eat her vegetables? 🙂
I hope speaking French isn’t necessary, all I can do is count to ten!
But, maybe if I called the vegetables by “fancy” French names my daughters (fans of Fancy Nancy) would eat them despite themselves… hmmm… something to think on! 🙂
I haven’t seen this book, but I’m guessing that it explains that kids in France are just perfect, and yours can be too as long as you follow these simple rules!
🙂 you got it. Fortunately the author is Canadian and used to eating in the car as well as other (apparently) terrible habits so that makes it all much easier to stomach.
When our son was first born we read all kinds of parenting books. Reading them cover to cover. Now we might take one out from the library if it looks exceptional, skim a few pages, and we’ll get maybe one or two ideas from it
