Weekly Photo Challenge: Nostalgic
There is something about yellow hollyhocks that always speaks of nostalgia to me.
Perhaps it’s the flower, perhaps it’s the color, perhaps it’s the memory of feeding the seeds from my grandpas flowers to his chickens.
Whatever it is, the sight of my own hollyhocks blooming in front of the barn had me jumping off the lawnmower for a quick photo break.
Not that I needed much convincing.
Hollyhocks give me warm fuzzy feelings.
Lawns care just make me grumpy.
Wonderful memory.
Perhaps you can keep your eye on the yellow hollyhocks while doing your lawn 😉
Probably a very good plan!
I also have warm memories of hollyhocks. My mom always had them outside the bathroom window, this is in Brookfield because when she and my Dad grew up their parents always had Hollyhocks growing around the outhouse! Hollyhocks make me smile!
Hollyhocks are such a happy flower I would think they would even make an outhouse more pleasant!
Love the shot of the hollyhocks against the old peeling boards, really pretty combo!
Thanks, the old peeling boards don’t look so great as a whole but they did make a nice backdrop.
beautiful photo – sweet memory! and I can relate to the lawn care….ugh! 🙂
The house that we are (crossing fingers that it doesn’t fall through) moving to has a MUCH smaller yard to mow, something I am looking forward too!
crossing my fingers with you! anything to make life a little easier really does help!
yeah, hollyhocks and picture-taking are the obvious winners. 🙂 I love this yellow color.
