Jane often wakes me up by telling me she wants to eat breakfast. I, never a morning person, shamelessly attempt any delay tactic I can think of in an effort to stay under the warm covers.
The other morning I was woken by her sweet little voice demanding breakfast and my foggy brain had an epiphany. Grandpa Moose had dropped off donuts the day before and there were a few left! Smug with the thought of extra time in bed and a happy donut-eating child, I asked in my best lure-the-children-to-the-van-with-candy voice, “Do you want a donut for breakfast?!?”
And then Jane, like all children, effortlessly popped my beautiful fantasy bubble.
“No. I want breakfast not a donut!”
Out of bed I crawled to make her something totally responsible and appropriately breakfasty while I tried to determine if, with a response like that, I’m doing this parenting thing all right or totally wrong.
Hilarious and painful at the same time! 😴 I can sure relate…my 5 year old still gets the meal names mixed up and often pipes up early in the morning asking if it’s time for dinner!
😀 If I heard that I’d be wishing we could stay in bed that long! 🙂
Sounds wonderful! 😄 a girl can dream…
And what a long wonderful dream that would be! 🙂
Yippee! 😴😴😴
What a cute and lovely child with a good answer, great capture.
Thanks, she sure does have answers for everything! 🙂
To have a child that knows her own mind so well, and can voice it, I would have to say you are doing something right. Even if she doesn’t want doughnuts for breakfast. 😉
She certainly knows her own mind! 🙂 And thank you, she’s a good kiddo, even if she is donut adverse early in the morning (she ate them that afternoon).
This made me giggle. 🙂
Oh good! It made me giggle too, eventually, once I pried my eyes and my sense of humor open! 🙂 (Soooo not a morning person!)
Me neither. LOL
Haha I think you’re doing wonderfully as a parent😊
Thanks Dan! 🙂
I am sure Jane liked the breakfast you made for her 🙂 And she sounds like a smart health freak already 😀
Scrambled eggs with salsa on top, she loves it every time! Hopefully she’ll grow up and keep a bit of her smart health freak status, but not too much, because everyone should have a donut every now and then. Balance right?! (She ate hers that afternoon! 🙂 )
Are you sure Jane is not a adult in child’s clothing??
You might be on to something there…
YES
Sorry. You didn’t get her fast enough. Jane ate it that afternoon.
But if you come visit I”ll get fresh ones! 🙂
Hahaha! I’m sure if you had told her she could have anything except donuts, she would have wanted the donut 😆 Kids are sent to try us after all!
I’m sure it’s that she knew I wouldn’t have to move for her to have a donut and she wasn’t really that hungry she just wanted me up!
Lol! Smart kid 😆
