Smiling Gators

Jane: “Mom! At Clara’s field trip I saw a real alligator and he was black and really friendly.”

Me: “Friendly? Really? How could you tell?”

Jane: “He was smiling!”

Mental note- Things to teach Jane.ย

  • All that glitters is not gold.ย
  • Beauty is only skin deep.
  • Never put your trust in crocodile tears or alligator smiles

This photo just reminded me of this poem by Lewis Carroll:
    “How doth the little crocodile
    Improve his shining tail
And pour the waters of the Nile
    On every golden scale!
How cheerfully he seems to grin
    How neatly spreads his claws
    And welcomes little fishes in
    With gently smiling jaws!”
