When I am well and truly grumpy it is, unfortunately, obvious.
If the smoke coming out of my ears doesn’t clue you in, you can always listen for overly stomp-y footfalls or the slamming of cupboard doors. As if that’s not enough, I also turn into a yell-er. And not just any yell-er, oh no, I turn into my mother. I yell at people (and, yes, by “people” I mean my kids) with the same horridly ineffective, high pitched, squeaky voice that I always used to laugh at.
Even by sight I look grumpy, more disheveled than normal, (probably from the stomping and the slamming) and my arms have a tendency to wave and flail about when I talk (to further ineffectively accentuate the squeaks) and my face is not a welcoming one.
When Jane is well and truly grumpy she turns quiet, becomes fairly unapproachable and looks like this:
Maybe I need fairy wings?
I need my own pair of fairy wings too! Much better solution to my screaming.
That’s what I’m thinking… if fairy wings could replace squeeking life would be better!
Well, if that is the place she goes to be sullen, it is super pretty. Fairy wings certainly wouldn’t hurt! I’m the silent until burst type anger, which isn’t very healthy. Learning to get anger out is hard for me.
I think anger is tough to deal with no matter how it comes out, or stays in, or explodes, or dribbles out in drops, it’s, anger, it’s a tough one. Trying not to get angry helps, but I don’t always win that game…
Fairy wings are not the secret here, it might be more to do with where she is sitting… it usually works for me!
It is a very good spot she picked isn’t it?!? I also do better when I can escape to outside when I’m grumpy, no matter what I’m doing out there it’s always better than slamming cupboard doors!
or slamming a few other things!
Reblogged this on Anita Dawes & Jaye Marie.
Well…quiet and disconnected is better than loud and obvious, isn’t it? I am more like you…loud and extremely unpretentious about the fact that I am unhappy about something…but my partner is the more chilled out, calm, quiet person! Sometimes I wish I were like him 😀 But we have our share of fun because of our inconsistencies 😀
It’s good to be a bit different, John is quieter about his grumpy too. which is good, we shouldn’t both stomp around the house that would be too much for everyone!
oh, you are a breath of fresh air indeed! I too could use a pair of those fairy wings from time to time
Plus then everyone would probably know, what was going on. “Oh she put on her fairy wings, better give her a little space (preferably in an orchard in bloom) to calm down before we talk to her.” It’d be great!
Fairies probably squeak and stomp their feet too though, but worth a try. 😀
Good point, good point… I’m doomed to squeak forever it seems! 😀
