Anniversary Storm

Sometimes wedding anniversaries are fun, magical days where you can bask in the knowledge that you ended up with just the right person to spend your life with.

Sometimes wedding anniversaries are a perfect storm of events that mess with even a modestly planned date night and you go to bed slightly aggravated at the world but still certain you ended up with just the right person to spend your life with.

Yesterday was our 14th anniversary, it didn’t go as planned. But that’s okay because the ribs John grilled were delicious, the lightening storm was impressive and he’s still my favorite man.

Happy Anniversary Honey!

(That’s a ten minute time lapse of the lightening over the neighbors corn field- it was awesome!)

Thirteen Years

Because John and I have almost no pictures of the two of us together and because it was our thirteenth anniversary today, we celebrated with a round of sporting clays, dinner out and thirteen selfies.

Happy Anniversary to us!

Anniversary Baby Chicks

Well Honey,

You gave me this card for our anniversary…baby chick anniversary card

…and I just have to say –

Nice Try.

For starters we’ve been married 12 years and we have I have brought home hundreds of baby chicks. So far, not a single pyro among them.

I’m willing to risk the evil chick for a special anniversary gift because…

…and most importantly….

…I think you are missing the big picture here.

Just imagine – a ROOSTER that could start fires with it’s mind.

Buh Bye Raccoons!

Maybe if we are lucky we’ll run across one sometime in our next 12 years!

Love,

Me

Perfect Endings

The best part of my day happens late at night when the house is quiet.

After I lay in bed reading far later into the night than a person with responsibilities before noon ever should.

When, eventually, I set down my book, turn out my light and curl up on my side to fall asleep.

Right then it happens.

The best part of the day.

I reach behind me and gently tap on John’s sleeping form. Then I wait with quiet, happy anticipation for him to roll over, wrap his arm around me, and tuck us together. Safe, warm and loved I fall asleep.

The perfect end to any kind of day.

As of today we’ve had ten years of perfect endings but it’s not enough.wedding day

I’m holding out for a lifetime.

Happy Anniversary!

Today is my Granny and Grandpa’s 60th anniversary, Happy Anniversary guys!

Not only have you survived 60 years of being married to one another but you also made it through the party!

Last Saturday Granny and Grandpa threw a huge anniversary party in their barn.

Friends and family came from all over the country.

The food was excellent.

The barn was beautiful with family quilts on the walls, teacups on the tables and flowers in between.

Even though all the planning Granny and Grandpa still liked each other enough by party time to renew their vows.

All in all it was a great success!

The only downside, they also invited these guys…

…family, what can you do?
