If you wake up a mom, she’s going to want a cup of tea.
While her water is heating, she’ll get herself some yogurt.
But, a kid will see her yogurt and want it. So she’ll give it to them.
Feeding a kid will remind her that she needs to check on the baby ducks. So she’ll leave the dad in charge of breakfast and go outside.
Once she checks on the baby ducks, she’ll decide to do the rest of the chores.
After she does the chores, she’ll run the dogs and water the plants.
Then she’ll come inside and remember her tea. She’ll take the warm water out of the microwave and put in a tea bag.
While her tea steeps, she’ll clean up the kitchen.
Cleaning up the kitchen will remind her that she needs to change the laundry.
When she piles the clean laundry on her bed she’ll pass by the bathroom.
That will remind her that she needs to brush her teeth.
Brushing her teeth will remind her that she still hasn’t eaten her breakfast, so she’ll head back to the kitchen.
Her kids will be off playing so she’ll take her yogurt to the computer and check her e-mail.
Checking her e-mail will magically alert the kids to her presence and they will all come crying about the rampant social injustice within her household.
Crying kids will make her grumpy, and when she’s grumpy, (and tired) she’s going to want a cup of tea.
But when she goes in the kitchen to get it…
… it’ll be cold.
This is not always how it goes. Many days John makes my tea and thrusts it in front of me somewhere in the middle of this progression – he’s a good man!
Hilarious…and very accurate! Same thing happens to me: baby stolen breakfasts, household chores distractions, water reboiled three time to make coffee which I can’t remember to finish making because I haven’t had my coffee yet…finishing breakfast is quite the miracle!
Yup, its a vicious circle. Can’t remember things and get going because you need that caffeine but can’t remember how to get that caffeine – finishing breakfast is a miracle!
Good to know we’re not alone in our absent mindedness though :p Your post reminds me I left my tea on the kitchen counter so I could run and change the baby’s diaper… It’s probably stone cold by now but I still need my cup of tea >.<
I figure when it’s stone cold you can drink more of it faster. 🙂
Lol! So true but it tastes like crap :p oh the sacrifices we make for our children!
For me, it was that cup of coffee that I would nuke about fifty times during the day without actually managing to drink it. Finally, after the kids were in bed I’d have one last reheat. And then wonder why I couldn’t sleep…
Ooo, yeah, I’ve done that!
I used to wonder if I would ever be able to enjoy a hot cup of tea again. I’ve waisted so many tea bags over the years. But let me tell you, the time will come. Great post.
Well I started heating my water hotter than I used to in hopes that i’ll still be warm when I find it again, sometimes that works! 🙂
Oh my! This sounds like me and I don’t even have 3 little kids running around my house! YIKES! 🙂 I think it must mean that we need a vacation 🙂 And yes…John is a good man! Like you, I am blessed with a good man too. Most mornings I have a cup of hot coffee waiting for me when I get out of the shower, what happens after that, is all up to me 🙂
Enjoy your tea – whenever you get around to drinking it!
Those are great husbands we have – or they know what we are like without our morning beverage! 😉
Ha! I guess it might be a little bit of both…but mostly they are just great husbands 🙂
Hope you are enjoying a cup of tea right now!
At least you remembered your tea. 🙂 My coffee gets warmed several times in the microwave and then, in the end, stays there overnight or longer. I only remember when I am looking for my mug. 🙂
I guess cold tea and coffee are mommy things.
The good news is that none of us are totally crazy – or if we are we’ve got lots of company, in our morning beverage troubles!
The life of a domestic engineer. Enjoy it, because it does end and then you long for those Grandbabies to come and visit.
Since Ivy’s been off school she some days makes me a cup of tea in the morning (she is our early riser) I just cross my fingers that she picks a black one instead of an herbal for my morning pick-me-up.
