All That Blue
Is there anything better than the blue sky of a fall day?
Just look at all that blue!
Oh, and our road – you can look at that too.
We can even pretend it’s a “street” as per the photo challenge of the day.
But it’s not, it’s a road.
Well, technically a highway but certainly not a street, it’s got far too many cornfields to ever be a street.

The orange pumpkins!
Gramps once again grew a bumper crop of pumpkins for his great granddaughters.
Once again I made everyone else do the heavy lifting while I took the photos.

Have You Tasted Fall?
Have you spent a day making apple cider?
Have you watched the apples tumble through a washer?
Have you seen them fall to the waiting boxes below as they reach the other side?
Have your children giggled as apples flew up an elevator?
Have you heard the terrific noise of a grinder as the apples are ground to a pulp?
Have you witnessed the mashed apples shooting out onto the press?
Have you watched as knowledge was passed from person to person?
Have you seen the belts and wheels of a hundred year old cider press jump into action?
Have you listened to the noise of the engine change as it starts to apply pressure to the apples?
Have you smelled the tang of apples as the juice starts running out?
Have you watched your husband explain it all to your children?
Have you listened to the gurgle of the amber liquid as it fills a jug?
Have you tasted fall?

Weekly Photo Challenge: Happy
These are a few of the things that made me happy this Wednesday.
Clara got an ant farm for her birthday. John thinks I’m obsessed with it. I think looking at the ants makes me happy!
My husband. Not only does he make me happy but I intended that he be featured in the MINE photo challenge. Sadly I didn’t manage to get a picture of him last week.

Oh, Diet Coke, how you make me happy. When combined with chocolate and a good book – bliss. On second thought ignore that book, that book is not making me happy!

Notable absences are:
Trip – Who is with my brother in Montana happily hunting without me.
Ivy – Sadly I missed the photo of her and Clara collecting eggs together. Kids playing together while doing chores makes me happy, happy, happy!
And the Ducks -I challenge you to watch a line of duck walk around and not be just a little bit happier. I also challenge you to get within photographing distance of my ducks without panicking them out of there cute little ducky line.

Update:
In terrible mothering moments of the week I forgot to include Jane in my post. Of course she is a part of my daily happiness – she smiles lots, she giggles, she’s easy going, content and oh so easily overlooked in the chaos of the rest of the house.
On a positive note I haven’t forgotten her anywhere – yet – but I do take roll call when we get in the truck!
