Last year’s leaves lit by this year’s sun.

I got a new camera for Christmas and a new photo challenge to try. The upcoming year looks like it’s going to be full of pictures!

Dogwood Photography 52 Week Photo Challenge – Want to join me?
With our nightly temperatures dipping below zero every night frost on the windows is an everyday occurrence around here.

A beautiful, magical, everyday occurrence.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Transformation
Errr… you know when you go around taking pictures of things in “transition” because you think that’s what the photo challenge is and then you look late at night and realize it was a different, long, “t” word?
Yeah… that’s what I did.
I was going to talk about the transition from day to to night, how the neighbor was taking the corn off his field tonight and how this was taken in my driveway and all the transitions those things contain. It was a great “transition” post I had been writing in my head.
As it stands it was a good thing those clouds have been transformed by the setting sun or I’d have nothing to post tonight!
Weekly Photo Challenge: Temporary
Temporary shapes in the flames.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Letter K – Needs to have the letter K anywhere in the word
I’m jumping into this photo challenge mid alphabet because it’s November and if I’m going to post everyday this November (it’s a thing, an Nano Poblano thing) I’m going to need some inspiration.
Letter K…

An unlikely key stuck in a creaky keyhole by a kooky kid!
It’s not just a blanket. It’s a roof, a cloak of invisibility and, most importantly, protection from the Little Grizzly Bear that was roaming the living room.
Time with cousins is always magic.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Transmogrify

Scrap metal, turned giant fish, turned pigeon perch.
This fish is part of a sculpture called Fisherman’s Dream along The Enchanted Highway in North Dakota.
The Enchanted Highway: where one retired school teacher started taking scrap metal, turning it into sculptures and planting them along a country highway in an effort to turn tourists off the expressway and help keep small towns on the map and transmogrified the landscape in the process!
Weekly Photo Challenge: Narrow

At the lake.
A narrow strip of sand.
A tiny beach.
Just right,
for one,
small,
girl.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Cherry On Top

The purple coneflowers are in bloom outside my front door and all day I go in and out with not much more than a glance their way.
I see honey bees among the flowers as I rush to the feed mill and a bumble bee as I come back from the vet. But when an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail stops by to feed I can’t help but stop my day to watch it flit about.
A delicate butterfly on such a striking flower- a cherry on top indeed.
